World Day Against Child Labor 2021

Every year since 2002, the Philippines joins in the international observance of World Day Against Child Labor in the month of June to raise awareness on the plight of child laborers and to demonstrate the country’s solidarity in the worldwide campaign against child labor.

The global theme for this year's World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) celebration is "𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫!" which focuses on the actions being undertaken for the 2021 International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour to accelerate progress for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal Target 8.7 set to end child labor in its all forms by 2025.

R.A 9231: AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE ELIMINATION OF THE WORST FORMS OF CHILD LABOR AND AFFORDING STRONGER PROTECTION FOR THE WORKING CHILD

ANO ANG BATANG MALAYA?

The term “Child Labor” is often defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development. (Source: ILO)

The worst forms of child labor involves children being enslaved, separated from their families, exposed to serious hazards and illnesses and/or left to fend for themselves on the streets of large cities – often at a very early age. (Source: ILO)

Profiling of child laborers aims to identify children who will be referred to agencies/organizations for provision of necessary services/interventions to remove them from child labor.
