Michelle graduated in 1985 from De La Salle University where she obtained a degree in Industrial Management Engineering, minor in Chemical Engineering. Before a career in Human Resource and Management Consulting, she worked as an engineer in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industry in the areas of Statistical Process Control and Quality Assurance. 

 

Prior to this, she was the Vice President and the Philippine Country Human Resource, Quality and Corporate Communications Head of Asea Brown Boveri. She was a Senior Consultant at OTi Consulting Singapore where she got involved with government and private organizations in establishing Singapore Quality Class, People Developer, Industry Capability Upgrading (ICAP) certifications, Work Life and Work Redesign. For these capabilities she was certified by SPRING Singapore.

Secretary of the Department of Tourism

 

Bernadette Fatima T. Romulo-Puyat (born May 14, 1969) is the current Secretary of the Department of Tourism after being appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2018. She attended the University of the Philippines and pursued an undergraduate and a Masters degree in Economics.

 

Secretary Romulo-Puyat was a former lecturer at the UP School of Economics (1994- 2006). She also served as an Economic Consultant at the Housing and Urban Development Coordination Council (HUDCC) (2001-2002) and the Presidential Management Staff (2005-2006), and was Deputy Cabinet Secretary at the Office of the President in 2006. She was appointed as Undersecretary at the Department of Agriculture from 2007 to 2018 where she was designated to handle Special Concerns, Administration and Finance, and Agribusiness and Marketing. Secretary Romulo-Puyat assumed office as the Secretary of the Department of Tourism on May 14, 2018.

Also fondly known as Ichel, her solo book entitled, Family Goals: Embracing the Imperfections of Family Life (Kerygma Books, 2016), was awarded the Best Book in Family Life by the Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards in September 2017. She proudly co-authored the breakthrough book, Growing Up Wired: Raising Pinoy Kids in the Digital Age (Anvil Pub., 2013).

After a rich experience in helping kids and families as a guidance counselor to premier schools for 12 years, she currently does training and consultancy work for schools, companies, organizations, and brands to develop programs and talks aligned with healthy family life. She integrates her experience and academic training to communicate practical knowledge on parenting, family life and relationships, and well-being.

Michele has furthered a deepened expertise in the field of digital media management for families and children. In 2017, she was invited to be part of UNESCO Asia-Pacific’s Experts’ Meeting to complete the Digital Citizenship Framework.

Later on, he became a CEO for an IT Solutions company who handled companies with large clients such as UBS, Electrolux, Swiss Life, Creditreform.

 

In 2011, he engaged in a project deploying Filipino nurses to Switzerland and Germany. This is when he founded a foundation that gives scholarships to Filipino nurses to learn the German language. Through the years, he has helped over 350 nurses build a career in Europe.

 

Currently, he is the CEO of LMCare AG, with its subsidiary SM Care Solutions. His business has expanded to deploying nurses from India and UAE, to IT specialists from China, India, Philippines, and the Middle East, and to consulting IT technology in the medical field such as Care Robots and Care Management Systems. 

 

Privately he is still a competitive sportsman.
