The primary role of the Business Development Officer is to prospect for new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential clients. The role should be able to plan persuasive approaches and pitchers that will convince potential clients to do business with the company. Should be able to build rapport with new clients, and set targets for sales and provide support that will continually improve the relationship.Strategic planning is a key part of this role as it builds or develops the business pipeline of new business coming into the company. RESPONSIBILITIES:The role shall ensure that organization’s market position and achieve financial growth by defining long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.Ensures a continuous prospecting pipelineGathers relevant information on potential clients and develops the appropriate material for presentationLeads in the coordination leading up to the pitch/ credential presentationContinuous engagement of potential clients and follows up for finalizationEnsures that all information regarding the negotiations be kept confidentialProperly turns over all new clients to Account ManagementREQUIREMENTS:At least 3 years experience in business development or salesExceptional communication, presentation, and analytical skillsAbility to tap a wide network of contacts
